# What is Lineaje Gold Open Source (GOS) Artifactory Proxy?

Lineaje Gold Open Source (GOS) Artifactory Proxy is a drop-in replacement registry URL. Build systems point their Maven, pip, or npm configuration to Lineaje GOS Artifactory Proxy endpoint, and the platform handles the rest transparently. 

The proxy does not require: 

* Changes to application source code 
* Modifications to build tool configuration beyond a one-time registry URL change 
* Access to your source repository or secrets beyond the Lineaje GOS Artifactory Proxy credentials 

The Lineaje GOS Artifactory Proxy operates in two modes:
